01 — THE CHALLENGE

The Challenge

The original room was dated, with exposed pipework, limited storage and no dedicated shower enclosure. Existing services were surface-fed and waste runs were positioned for a single bath layout, restricting flexibility.

The floor structure required opening up to reroute pipework correctly, while walls needed substantial preparation following tile removal. Careful planning was required to reposition hot, cold and waste services without compromising floor integrity.

02 — OUR APPROACH

Our Approach

Full Strip-Out

We removed all sanitaryware, wall tiles and floor finishes, taking sections back to brick where required. The extent of adhesive build-up and uneven substrates following tile removal created preparation challenges. We exposed walls and lifted floor sections to fully assess existing services and structure. This provided a clean, stable base ready for accurate plumbing reroutes and new installation.

Plumbing & Waste Rerouting

We lifted sections of the floor to reconfigure pipework and install new hot and cold feeds. Dedicated waste runs were formed for both the bath and the separate shower enclosure. The existing layout did not support the revised configuration, requiring integration into the current drainage system. All services were pressure tested before closure to ensure long-term performance and compliance.

Wall Preparation & Framing

Following the removal of finishes, we repaired damaged masonry and prepared uneven substrates. New studwork was installed where required to conceal pipework and support wall-mounted fittings. Previous patch repairs and exposed brickwork required levelling and reinforcement. This created secure fixing points and a stable base for waterproof boards and large-format tiling.

Waterproofing & Installation

We installed waterproof tile backer boards and completed full tanking within all wet areas. Wall and floor tiles were fitted with careful alignment around the window reveal and shower enclosure. Concealed pipework was secured prior to installation of the bath, shower, WC and vanity unit. The result is a precise finish with improved layout efficiency and long-term durability.

03 — THE RESULT

The Result

The bathroom now includes both a bath and a dedicated shower enclosure, significantly improving day-to-day usability. All plumbing and waste runs have been repositioned beneath the floor and within the walls for a cleaner, concealed installation. Ventilation was upgraded to improve moisture control, and full waterproofing was applied prior to tiling. The installation was fully tested and commissioned before handover, delivering a durable and structurally sound finish.
