We chased in a new gas feed from the airing cupboard, upgraded electrics with additional sockets and lighting, and extended plumbing for the sink run. The result is a cleaner installation with correctly positioned services and a practical breakfast bar arrangement.

01 — THE CHALLENGE

The Challenge

The kitchen had no existing gas supply, so a new pipe route had to be formed and chased in without compromising surrounding finishes. Electrical points were limited and needed increasing, with walls opened up and made good to a safe standard. Tiling also needed careful sequencing, as the splashback could only start once units and worktops were fully installed.

02 — OUR APPROACH

Our Approach

Strip-Out & Isolation

We removed the existing units, worktops, appliances and wall tiles. The constraint was managing waste and access on a live property, including skip placement on a private area and separating items that can’t go into a skip (such as appliances). This left a clean, controlled shell with safe working conditions, ready for accurate setting-out and the service chases needed for the new layout.

Gas, Power & Lighting

We formed a new gas pipe route from the airing cupboard to the kitchen, then installed and certified the new hob. The challenge was coordinating chases and positions alongside the new kitchen plan, while also adding circuits for the oven, dishwasher connection point, hood supply and an isolator. The outcome was compliant, testable services located exactly where the appliances required them.

Plumbing Adjustments

We extended the water supply and waste runs to suit the new sink location and unit configuration. The constraint was maintaining workable gradients and reliable joints within the limited void space behind units and along the new layout. This delivered a neat install with secure connections, correct fall on waste, and straightforward access for future maintenance.

Fit-Out, Worktops & Tiling

We fitted the new kitchen, installed a laminate worktop, and formed the breakfast bar using the agreed excess worktop for consistent edges. The challenge was holding tolerances through corners and junctions so the splashback could be tiled only after the worktops were final. We then bonded and tiled the splashback with ceramic brick tiles and white grout for a clean, durable finish.

03 — THE RESULT

The Result

The kitchen now has a fully renewed layout with properly positioned gas, electrical and plumbing feeds to suit the integrated appliances and sink run. Additional sockets, new facias, and revised lighting improve day-to-day usability without surface trunking. The splashback was tiled only after the fit was complete, giving tight junctions and a stronger finish. All connections were checked and commissioned, with gas certification completed for handover.
